Thermal circuit breakers have a bimetallic strip that is connected to the circuit. In the event of an overload, the bimetallic strip is deformed by the heat generated by the current and triggers the circuit breaker. Thermal circuit breakers have the great advantage over conventional fuses that they can be reset after tripping and are therefore used to switch the protected device on and off.
